Prisoner swap for Rezaian not on agenda: Ejei

Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA - Iran's Judiciary Spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said on Tuesday that prisoner swap for Jason Rezaian is not currently on the agenda of Judiciary.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran, However, he did not elaborate on the case.

There have recently been some reports in certain wsestern media about a potential prisoner swap between Iran and US.

Rezaian was arrested in Tehran more than a year ago. US officials have called on Iran to free Rezaian, as well as three other Americans who are in custody for espionage charges.

The possibility of a prisoner swap came up in an interview Thursday in New York, where Larijani was attending a global conference of parliamentary speakers this week.

Before he was arrested and charged with spying, Rezaian had been the Post's Tehran bureau chief since 2012; he has dual citizenship in the US and Iran.
