TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan blasted the US for creating and sponsoring the terrorist and Takfiri groups in the region, including the ISIL.

"The US new strategy in the region is (inciting war of) religion against religion and it has created and supported the terrorist and Takfiri groups, including the ISIL, in line with the same strategy," Pourdastan said, addressing Ground Force commanders in Tehran on Wednesday.

He also revealed that the ISIL terrorist group sought to approach the Iranian borders in the past, but failed in its plot given the Ground Forces' swift action.

"Our Armed Forces monitor all moves and there is no reason for our nation to worry," Pourdastan said.

Elsewhere, he elaborated on the recent nuclear agreement between Tehran and the world powers, and said, "It is true that we have had an agreement with the US in the nuclear field, but the US enmity towards us is deeply rooted and the US statesmen's remarks after the agreement displays this very well."

Pourdastan lamented that the US hostility towards the Iranian nation has no ending, and said "the occupying Zionist regime is the US redline, and we have a problem with the child-killer Israeli regime" and that's why the US enmity towards Iran will never end.

Yesterday, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani also described ISIL as the US prot�g�, and cautioned that Washington is doing its best to keep the Tafiri terrorist group alive and in power in a bid to use it as a pressure leverage against the Muslim community.

"The US intends to protect the ISIL to make Muslims need the US and it has, in fact, turned it into a leverage (against the Muslims)," Major General Soleimani said, addressing the opening ceremony of the 18th meeting of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Tuesday.

He said the ISIL is a US product and prot�g�, reiterating that the terrorist group has been created by Washington.

Also, Lieutenant Commander of the IRGC Brigadier General Hossein Salami warned last month that enemies had opted for a war of proxies against Iran after they were discouraged from direct confrontation against the country.

Given the spread of the Islamic Revolution's thoughts in the Muslim world, "today, our enemies are fighting against us by proxy wars in different fronts but we will continue the path of progress and growth", Salami told reporters in Tehran in August.

He underlined that the only way to turn Iran into an international power was resistance against the hegemonic powers and those who sought to spread their influence in other countries.

Also last month, a senior Iraqi intelligence official revealed that the US helicopters drop weapons and other aids for the ISIL terrorists in the Western province of al-Anbar.

"The fighters present at the forefront of fighting against the ISIL always see US helicopters flying over the ISIL-controlled areas and dropping weapons and urgent aids for them," the official who called for anonymity told FNA.

Yet, he said the helicopters could have also been sent from Turkey or Israel.

He added that in addition to dropping aids, the helicopters transfer the ISIL ringleaders and wounded members from the battleground to some hospitals in Syria or other countries which support the terrorist group.

In relevant remarks in May, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan blasted the US for hiring the ISIL terrorist group to fight proxy wars against the regional states.

"The crimes committed by the ISIL terrorist grouplet and whatever created under the name of Takfiri groups in the region are proxy acts by the US," Dehqan said.

Warning that the US and the Zionist regime were always after striking Islam, he said, "Unfortunately, certain Islamic countries have been fooled by the enemies and are acting in compliance with the plots hatched by the US and the Quds Occupying Regime."

Dehqan also warned that the US was attempting to create rift among Muslims and coax them into fighting against each other with the help of the terrorist groups, including the ISIL.

In similar remarks in 2014, Commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi had also lashed out at the US and Israel for sponsoring the ISIL.

"The criminal US created, equipped and armed the ISIL terrorist group with the help of the wicked Britain and the child-killing Zionist regime as well the petrodollars of oil-rich countries and they ordered it (ISIL) to carry out crimes and large-scale massacre of Shiites and Sunnis and disrupt their tranquility on the pretext of a sectarian Sunni war on Shiites," General Naqdi said.

He noted that the western countries wanted to introduce a tainted image of Islam to the world by displaying horrible crimes and savage wickedness against children, women and innocent people with extreme brutality and savagery in a bid to harness the huge waves of Islamism and tendency for Islam in the world, specially the western countries.

General Naqdi reiterated that the arrogant powers had created the ISIL and every now and then they attacked the terrorists to portray that they were fighting terrorism while the American, British and Israeli military advisors were supporting them in the battlefield.

"The outcome of the actions of this terrorist current in Syria was unprecedented as it caused people's high turnout in that country's presidential election, which set as yet another example of the inefficiency of weapons and the victory of the resistance movement against the global arrogance," he added.
