Iran seeking cordial relations with regional countries: Deputy FM
Beirut, Sept 2, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Wednesday that Iran is looking for friendly ties coupled with mutual respect with regional countries, including Saudi Arabia.

Amir-Abdollahian, who is in Beirut for talks with Lebanese officials on bilateral and regional issues, made the remarks during a meeting with Lebanon's Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

Amir-Abdollahian said that during his tenure, Salam has successfully left behind major crises.

Amir-Abdollahian said he was certain that Mr. Salam can well manage the current situation of Lebanon.

He voiced Tehran's readiness to help Lebanon get rid of problems facing the country.

Referring to the important regional status of Saudi Arabia, the deputy foreign minister said, 'We are ready to engage in talks with our Saudi friends.'

He also signaled Tehran's readiness to help Lebanon remove its problems about electricity and civil cervices.

'Undermining the security of Lebanon would benefit the interests of the Zionist regime and cooperate with regional countries on providing Lebanon's security,' Amir-Abdollahian said.

The Lebanese prime minister, for his part, hailed Iran's support for Lebanon's security and stability.

Describing Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's recent visit to Lebanon as 'important', Salam said that regional visits of Iranian foreign minister following the nuclear deal indicates Iran's new foreign policy to promote relations with regional countries.
