Gorgan, Aug 4, IRNA First Vice President Eshap Jahangiri inaugurated the first passenger train traveling from Gorgan to Inche-Boroun in north of the country here on Tuesday.
The train consists of four wagons and could carry 336 people in each of its four trips a day.
It covers a distance of 75 kms from Gorgan in north of the country to Inche-Boroun which is located on border with Turkmenistan.
President Rouhani opened a railway project here last year which connects Iran to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan for trade purposes.
Talking to reporters upon arrival in the city, Jahangiri pointed to the high potential of the province for further economic development and said the present situation after the nuclear deal is ripe for making progress.
