Israel root cause of insecurity in Mideast: Official

A senior Iranian official says Israels measures are to blame forinsecurity in the Middle East, criticizing the international community for remaining silent vis-a-visthe regimes crimes.

The root cause of insecurityin our region is the acts committed bythe illegitimate Zionist regime giventhe international community's silence and under the aegis of certain countries claiming to be advocates of human rights, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, said in an interview with IRIB on Sunday.

The Iranian official condemned the burning to death of a Palestinian toddler by Israeli forces, saying it is one of millions of crimes committed by the Israeli regime over the past decades.

The Zionist regime is an illegitimate regime which spreads state terrorism in the region and the world and is recognized as an infanticidal regime for its criminal acts, he added.

A Palestinian toddler was burnt to death in an arson attack by Israeli settlers against his house in the village of Duma in the occupied West Bank on Friday.

The parents of the baby and his four-year-old brother were also injured in the attack.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Iranian official also highlighted the need for a referendum with the participation of Muslims, Christians and Jews to determine the fate of the Palestinian people.
