2 Iranian composers to play at Italy’s '2 Agosto'

TEHRAN, Aug. 01 (MNA) – Two Iranian composers that won the 1st and 3rd prizes in the 2015 International Composing Competition "2 Agosto" will be playing their pieces in Italian city of Bologna in August.

Among the winners of the 21st edition of the International Composing Competition '2 Agosto' that took place from 26-28 June, there were two young Iranian talents, Vahid Jahandari and Alvand Jalali-Jafari.

The board of juries chaired by the Italian composer Fabrizio de Rossi Re selected the score titled The Checkered City by Vahid Jahandari as winner of the First Prize. The Third Prize has been awarded to Alvand Jalali Jafari.

The winning scores will be performed live in Bologna on August 2, 2015, as one of the commemorative events held in memory of the victims of the massacres of a terrorist bombing of the Central Station at Bologna carried out by a neo-fascist terrorist organization which left 85 people dead and wounded more than 200.

The Concert which will take place on August 2 in Piazza Maggiore, Bologna, will also stage The Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Maestro Vito Clemente and Moni Ovadia as the main performer at the Final Concert of the International Composing Competition '2 Agosto'.

The International Composing Competition “2 Agosto” was born in 1994. It was conceived of the idea that the music is  the more suitable instrument to maintain alive  the victims’ memory and serve as a respond to that crime with an autonomous and creative action.
