Phase 19 refinery preparing for startup

TEHRAN July 05(Shana)--Boilers of Phase 19 of the massive South Pars gas field has been lit to prepare the phase's refinery for startup.

Along with the boilers, the desalting and nitrogen units of the refinery have become operational at the phase.

Phase 19 is the first South Pars phase which is being carried out as a 35-month project.With completion of the boilers and separators of Phase 19 refinery, the utilities are ready for operation and the refinery will undergo pre-startup operations. Last month, the flare of Phase 19 was lit. Pipelay operations at Phase 19 of the giant offshore South Pars gas are 93% complete now.

Furthremore, the Phase 19 development of South Pars envisages laying four 120-kilometer pipelines. An export terminal, now 70% complete, is also to carry 80,000 b/d of gas condensate from the refinery of this phase.

Platforms in Phase 19 of the massive offshore South Pars gas field have seen 75% progress in construction. Platform 19A is 65% complete and 19B is 40% complete, and 19C is to be loaded out at Khorramshahr Yard.

Platform 19C is expected to start producing 1 bcf of gas in the next calendar year which would start next March.

Phase 19 development of South Pars is set to produce 50 mcm/d of sweet gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas and one million tons a year of ethane.

This development phase was awarded by Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) to a Petropars-led consortium of Petropars Limited and Petropars Iran and Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) in June 2010 under an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract.

Petropars Limited and Petropars Iran are responsible for onshore installations and drilling operations.
