Kish int'l flights up by 33%

Kish, Hormuzgan Prov., June 28, IRNA -- Director of Kish International Airport Kourosh Fattahi said on Sunday that 33 percent rise is observed in international flights to Kish Island in the first three months of the year (started on March 21), compared to the preceding period.

Kish Investment and Development Company quoted Fattahi as saying that number of international flights including departures and arrivals reached 714 within the span of three months.

He said that the number of passengers stood at 77,526 making up for 19 percent growth.

He said that in spring of the current Iranian year, more than 5,550 sorties of domestic flight (arrivals and departures) were recorded and number of passengers handled through Kish International Airport stood at 665,912.

Fattahi said as many as 6,264 domestic and international flights were registered, showing three percent growth compared to the same period the previous year.

He said that planning has been made to set up flights to Muscat of Oman and Manama of Bahrain and vice-versa.

According to Fattahi, the current destinations of international flights include Turkey, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Iraq and Istanbul.
