Ayat. Khatami: All political groups should support negotiators

Tehran, June 12, IRNA Provisional Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said that all political groups should help the country's negotiating team to succeed in their negotiations with the representatives of the world powers.

'The Iranian negotiators are sons of the Islamic system and they should not be insulted or weakened; they are warriors of the diplomacy front and everyone should help them to succeed,' Ayatollah Khatami said in the second sermon of his prayers on Friday.

Tehran Friday prayers leader also pointed to the ongoing Iran-Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany) talks, and said, 'This issue is a sensitive one and everyone allows himself/herself to comment on that and it is also their right to do so because the freedom of expressing your views are among the benevolences of the revolution, but two issues, specially by the critics, should be paid attention to; first the negotiators are the sons of the country therefore they should not be accused of treason and everyone should try and help these warriors of the diplomatic front to fulfill their duties.'

Ayatollah Khatami, also member of the Assembly of Experts, went on to say that the officials should not brand any criticism or gathering as a character assassination; even some of these gatherings might betray the negotiators, but the negotiators should be weakened and we should try to increase their power in negotiations.

Referring to the nuclear energy issue, Ayatollah Khatami said, 'The government and nation have consensus in this field and the enemies cannot create rift among the people and nation in the field of nuclear knowledge.'

Tehran Friday prayers leader reiterated that the Islamic system is looking for a good agreement and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic system and negotiators do not accept a bad agreement.

'A good agreement is an agreement that will respect the red lines, including annulment of all sanctions concurrent with nuclear agreement,' Khatami added.
