Women’s entry into sporting arenas remains illegal: Iran Police

Tehran, May 8, The Iran Project – “Women’s entry into sporting arenas remains illegal,” says the spokesman of the law enforcement force in a press conference on Sunday.

Answering a question about women’s presence in sports stadiums, Spokesman Brigadier General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi said nothing has been notified by the Interior Ministry yet, adding that the Interior Ministry, Ministry of Sports and Police are the three decisions–making organs in this regard.

However, Shahindokht Molaverdi, vice president for women and family affairs has recently announced that the document that allows women to attend stadiums has been signed by Representatives of the Police, the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Last year, several international sports associations including the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB) asked Iran to pave the ground for presence of Iranian women in sports clubs based on the international regulations and rules of sports.
