Iran disapproves provincial parliamentary elections plan

Tehran, June 7, The Iran Project - A senior Iranian official says the plan to make parliamentary elections provincial has been revoked, adding that three branches of the government are not allowed to interfere in the elections.

The plan to make parliamentary elections provincial has been removed from the general policies of the elections, said Secretary of Irans Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei at a press conference on Saturday.

Rezaei also announced the approval of a ban on the interference of the government's three branches in the elections, stressing that Majlis (parliament), ministries and the judiciary must not support any particular faction.

Irans Interior Minister, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, said earlier the government and those who organize and hold the elections are not in favor of any faction, stressing that government is seeking to fully establish the electoral justice, which is the proper implementation of the law.

Iranians will vote for a new parliament on February 26, 2016.
