Iran Navy launches floating dock in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran launched a 150-ton floating dock in Persian Gulf in a ceremony attended by some senior Iranian navy officials on Monday.

We can mightily say that experts of the Navy have indigenized the know-how for building and maintaining different types of floating dock which was possessed by European countries so far. The measures have caused mighty presence of the Navy in high seas, said Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari in the ceremony.

He also said that Navy is after building different types of destroyers, missile launching vessels, logistic vessels, submarines and expanding its presence in high seas to strengthen its scientific, military and defense power.

The dock dubbed Khouzestan can be used for launching different vessels and naval equipment which are up to 150 tons.

It can help vessels in Persian Gulf and high seas and is of great importance due to comings and goings of hundreds of military vessels and carriers in the region.

It was built 12 years ago and was optimized two years ago.
