West afraid of Iran's spiritual influence: Former negotiator

Qom, April 26, IRNA West is afraid of Iran's spiritual influence in the region and the world, the Supreme Leader's representative to the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said on Sunday.

Speaking in a local meeting, he said Westerners are not afraid of Iran's enrichment fuel cycle but they are afraid of Iranian nation's spiritual influence in the region and the world.

Iranian negotiators will continue nuclear talks with P5+1 in order to prove the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, Jalili added.

He noted that Iran's distrust in US is based on bitter historical experiences.

US officials have always used all tools to suspend, sabotage or shut down Iran's nuclear facilities, Jalili added.

He said that Iranian nation did not bend towards enemy pressures including the eight years imposed war, sanctions as well as political pressures.

Iranian negotiating team headed by Foreign Minister Mohammd Javad Zarif left Tehran for New York early Sunday morning.

In New York, Zarif will attend the NPT Review Conference and on the sidelines of the conference will meet US Secretary of State John Kerry, EU Foreign Policy Chief Federico Mogherini and some counterparts of the Group 5+1.

Last week, nuclear negotiators headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed drafting the text of a comprehensive agreement in Vienna.

The discussions are to be followed in New York.
