Deputy top commander: Foreigners not allowed to visit Iran's military centers

TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri underlined that inspection of the country's military sites will be impossible.

"Everyone should know that in our view, visiting the military centers is completely impossible since it is among our redlines and we will not allow anyone to opine on such issues," Jazzayeri said in an interview with Rah-e Dana news website on Saturday.

He also advised the Iranian negotiators participating in nuclear talks with the world powers to keep vigilant and remain suspicious of the opposite party's intentions.

In similar remarks last Monday, Jazzayeri had underlined that no foreign national would ever be allowed to visit Iran's military centers.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's positions are clear in this regard and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) has also specified the redlines. Therefore, both the Americans and other western states should know that this will never happen," Jazzayeri said.

"Visiting Iran's military centers is the US and the western states' dream, but the military sites are in the realm of security for every state and nation, and no one is allowed to visit such places in Iran," he added.

"Iran's increased defensive power and enemy's fear of this might has made them think of spying on Iran's military facilities, but what the westerners are seeking is a dream far from reality which will never come true," the deputy chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces reiterated.

His remarks came after the UK Guardian Daily claimed earlier this month that inspecting Iran's military centers was mentioned in the Lausanne statement at the end of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) on April 2.

But Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan categorically rejected as a "lie" the report, and said, "No such agreement has been made; principally speaking, visit to military centers is among our redlines and no such visit will be accepted."

The Iranian defense minister reiterated that the Supreme Leader's guidelines, government's strategy and the negotiating team's resolve had placed the Iranian diplomacy on a path that it would never allow the opposite parties to the talks impose their will on the Iranian nation.

Also on April 9, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that Iran doesnt allow any inspection of its defensive and military centers.

"They (the foreigners) shouldnt be allowed at all to penetrate into the country's security and defensive boundaries under the pretext of supervision, and the country's military officials are not permitted at all to allow the foreigners to cross these boundaries or stop the country's defensive development under the pretext of supervision and inspection," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a large number of Iranian people in Tehran.
