Top commander hails Iran's success in N. talks with world powers

TEHRAN (Tasnim) The chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces praised the success of the country's negotiating team in the recent nuclear talks with six world powers, describing it as another step in upholding the country's inalienable rights.

In a message to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi congratulated the Leader on the achievements made by the Iranian delegation in the nuclear talks recently held in the Swiss city of Lausanne.

The senior commander underlined that another step has been taken in upholding the inalienable rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Establishment thanks to the guidelines of the Supreme Leader and the efforts made by the administration of President Rouhani and the negotiating team, particularly Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

General Firouzabadi also congratulated the "great nation" of Iran on the accomplishment.

The message came after representatives from Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on Thursday reached a framework agreement on Tehran's civilian nuclear program after intensive negotiations in Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final, comprehensive accord until the end of June.

The framework provides a series of solutions to the differences that will be the basis of a comprehensive joint plan of action.

According to the framework agreement, the nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran by the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and the US will be removed.
