Mogherini, Germany, UK, US, Iran ministers stay for Lausanne talks

Earlier in the day, it was announced that Russia's Foreign Minister Segrei Lavrov and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius had left the talks. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi left the talks Tuesday.


LAUSANNE (Sputnik) Foreign ministers ofGermany, Britain, the United States and Iran, aswell asEU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, remain inLausanne fortalks onTehran's nuclear program, an official representative forthe Iranian delegation told Sputnik Wednesday.

"For the moment they are here," the representative said, adding that ministers might join the talks currently being held byexperts and political directors ofthe P5+1 group.

The representative also revealed that the Iranian delegation is holding internal discussions.

Earlier inthe day, it was announced that Russia's Foreign Minister Segrei Lavrov and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius had left the talks. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi left the talks Tuesday.Tuesday was the final day forreaching a framework ona deal onTehran's nuclear program. However, the talks continue Wednesday.

The P5+1 group, comprising envoys fromRussia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, have been holding negotiations withIran onTehran's nuclear program.

The international negotiators are trying toget Iran tohalt their uranium enrichment program and decrease the number ofcentrifuges, fearing Tehran is developing nuclear weapons underthe guise ofa civilian energy program. Iran wants the West toremove economic sanctions immediately.

A comprehensive deal ensuring the peaceful uses ofIranian nuclear program is due tobe achieved byJuly 2015.
