Lausanne, Switzerland, March 29, IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Policy chief Federica Mogherini met in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Saturday within less than two days before the deadline for reaching a framework nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers.


The meeting comes at the same time that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, who are also in Lausanne, met in the Swiss city.

Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi and US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz have also started bilateral negotiations.

Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council Plus Germany) are hoping to reach a political understanding by the end of March and clinch a comprehensive deal by a self-imposed June 30 deadline.
