Iran, P5+1 yet to solve technical issues as nuclear talks enter day three

The director of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, said that Iran and the P5+1 group still have to come to a common understanding of nuclear program issue.
LAUSANNE (Sputnik) Iran and the six major world powers are yet toresolve some technical issues asthey meet inthe Swiss city ofLausanne tohammer outa framework deal onTehran's nuclear program, the director ofIran's Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, said Saturday."Still we have tocome toa common understanding," Salehi told journalists.

"My hope is that finally we are solving them [technical issues], that is our hope and that is what we are trying todo. I am not a pessimist inthis case and I keep my optimism and hope that we will be getting somewhere," the Iranian nuclear official confessed.

The talks topressure Iran intodismantling its controversial nuclear program entered day three onSaturday ahead ofa looming deadline. The sides have untilMarch 31 tohammer outa political framework accord, tobe followed bya comprehensive agreement byJune 31, 2015.The talks kicked offwith a meeting betweenUS Secretary ofState John Kerry and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. Later inthe day, Kerry is anticipated tomeet one-on-one withFrench Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. The ministers will then be joined byGermany's Frank-Walter Steinmeier fora working lunch.
