Obama will not comment on reports Israel spied on Iran negotiations

U.S. President Barack Obama says he will not comment on reports that Israel spied on closed-door negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.

Obama said the negotiations will only produce an agreement if Washington is confident that it will keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Obama said if there is an agreement, all sides will be able to "lift up the hood," as he put it, to make sure it's a good deal.

Obama spoke during a news conference on March 24 with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the White House.

The Wall Street Journal reported on March 23 that Israel had penetrated the talks and used the information to build a case against an emerging agreement.

Earlier this month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a controversial speech to the U.S. Congress arguing against the deal.

Israel has rejected the charges.
