Ali Akbar Velayati, the president of the Center for Strategic Research of Irans Expediency Council[/caption]Tehran, Feb 28, IRNA Head of Strategic Research at the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said on Saturday that Iran respects international law in nuclear negotiations with the western governments.
Velayati made the remarks after his meeting with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan Nicholas Haysom.
It would be to the Americans to stay or leave the negotiating table, but, they were insisting on negotiations and Iran joined negotiations in line with international rules and regulations, he said.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that if the two sides fail to clinch a deal till March, negotiations will be halted, Velayati said adding that there is no doubt that Iran seeks the issue to be resolved through negotiations and has voiced its readiness from early stages.
The Islamic Republic of Iran under no circumstances is to give up its nuclear rights, he said.
'If they put pressure on Iran through propaganda, Iran from early stages of the Islamic revolution has proved that it never gives up,' he said.
A country benefitting from independence, the popular support and resistance of the government and wise leadership never gives up to bullying and is to continue with talks based of predefined framework, he said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran never gives up even one iota from its legitimate rights, Velayati underlined.
John Kerry before departing for Geneva to join nuclear talks with Iran said If Tehran avoids to accept conditions barring to produce nuclear weapon, the US is ready to walk out of negotiations.
On Afghanistan developments, Veleyati said Iran has always backed Afghanistan in all ups and downs and has hosted many refugees and even helped the country to replace poppy cultivation with other crops.
Iran has always helped maintain national solidarity of Afghanistan and is determined to continue with the policy, he said.
