Moscow, Feb 27, IRNA Russia Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed hoped that conditions will be created for Iran's membership in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Addressing a gathering of officials and students of Diplomatic Academy affiliated to Russian Foreign Ministry Friday, Lavrov said, 'We are preparing for holding SCO summit in Ufa, capital city of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia.'

The event will discuss deepening cooperation and expansion of the organization, he noted.

Stating that Iran has applied for membership in SCO, Lavrov hoped that nuclear talks between Iran and 5+1 Group will yield result, which will help pave the way for its membership in the organization.

SCO summit will be held in Ufa in coming summer.

Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and China are members of SCO while, Iran, India, Pakistan, and Mongolia have observer status.
