Qazvin, Feb 17, IRNA - Chinese Ambassador to Iran Pang Sen said on Tuesday that President Xi Jinping is to visit Tehran in a near future upon an invitation of senior Iranian officials.

Pang made the announcement on the sidelines of a tour to Imam Khomeini University in this provincial capital city some 150 km northwest of Tehran.

He referred to Tehran and Beijing as founders of two great and important civilizations with a long history of cordial relations.

Iran and China play an influential role in regional and international developments as two countries with ancient civilizations, said the Chinese ambassador.

He also called for promotion of Iran-China cooperation in all fields, particularly in economic and political activities.

Pang said he toured the Imam Khomeini University in Qazvin as it is a center to teach Persian language to foreign students including those from China.

According to the university officials some 180 Chinese students are currently studying in the academic center.
