Tehran, Feb 14, IRNA - A liberal advocacy group has kicked off a campaign against the Zionist regime’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his planned election speech before the US Congress by signing a petition called “Bibi Doesn’t Speak For Me”.

According to the Palestinian Information Center, the campaign is launched by the J-Street, an American nonprofit liberal advocacy organization and in reaction to Netanyahu’s latest claims that he will address the Congress on March 3 as the “representative of the entire Jewish people”.

J-Street’s campaign is intended to send a clear message that Netanyahu and his actions are not representative of all Jews, particularly those living in the United States.

Channel 10 of the Zionist regime has also criticized Netanyahu for making an un-invited visit to Washington for addressing the US Congress two weeks before a parliamentary election be held in the occupied lands.

Zionist regime’s senior officials, including its former ambassador to the United States Michael Oren and Amos Yadlin, a former military attaché to Washington and head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, have urged Netanyahu to cancel his visit.

According to Oren and Yadlin, Netanyahu’s planned visit is a non-democratic move which would underestimate his Likud party in the upcoming parliamentary election.

Netanyahu’s visit to Washington created a wave of criticism among representatives of the US Congress to the extent that a number of Democrat deputies called for postponement of his address sending a letter to the speaker of the US House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The campaign is gaining traction on Twitter under the hashtag #BibiDoesntSpeakForMe, with some users sharing photos of themselves using the slogan. An online petition is also available on J-Street’s website.

The controversy erupted when Israeli Ambassador to U.S. Ron Dermer and House Speaker John Boehner scheduled Netanyahu to address Congress without the customary approval of the White House. As a result, backlash has erupted among Democrats and American Jews who argue that attendance to Netanyahu’s speech forces them to choose between loyalty to the United States and Israel.
