Iran's FM Zarif holds talks with German counterpart

Munich, Feb 6, IRNA Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif started talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier here on Friday.
The talks started immediately after Zarif concluded his discussions with the US Secretary of State John Kerry.

The meetings took place at the sideline of Munich Security Conference.

Deputies Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi are accompanying the Iranian foreign minister at the venue of the meetings.

Talks between Zarif and Kerry on the prospect of negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 lasted for two hours and a half.

According to German news resources, Zarif proceeded for talks with Steinmeier directly after closing his discussions with Kerry.

Earlier on Thursday, Zarif told reporters in Dubai that in Munich, he will have detailed negotiations on Irans nuclear issue.

He was in Dubai to change flights to Munich back from his four-nation African tour.

Zarif is also to attend on Sunday a panel discussion on Iran with Kerry, Steinmeier and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in Munich Security Conference.

The Munich Security Conference will be held February 6-8, in the German city of Bavaria.

It could be the venue for further talks on Tehran?s nuclear program between Iran and six world powers (US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany).

Hundreds of leading decision-makers and prominent senior analysts from dozens of countries are slated to participate at the confab to dwell on various top political and security issues, notably terrorism, the Ukrainian conflict and the Mideast crisis hotspots.

Some 20 heads of states and governments as well as 60 foreign and defense ministers are expected to take part in the security meeting in the southern German city, widely regarded as the top annual gathering of political movers and shakers on global strategic issues.

Meanwhile, Zarif told reporters that he is to conduct detailed and inclusive bilateral talks with all parties involved in Munich meeting.

He said he will also have meetings with other countries which have requested bilateral discussions with Iran.
