MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Irans nuclear problem must be resolved on the basis of the Syrian model, presented after the talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry in September 2013, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told TASS in an exclusive interview.

"There is only one criterion for us - the Syrian model that Russia and the United States agreed on to secure the elimination of chemical weapons," Liberman said.

"It contained the following fundamental principles: firstly, all manufacturing infrastructures must be eliminated and they were eliminated," he recalled. "Secondly, the entire chemical potential must be removed. All chemical agents have been removed from Syrian territory and then disposed of."

"We are expecting to see the same model in Iran," Liberman said. "All equipment for production of enriched uranium and the missile program must be eliminated and all uranium enriched to 4.5% or more taken out of Iran. To Russia or the United States does not matter. Thats the model that suits us."

"The option that is being discussed these days that would let Iran have 6,000 centrifuges or 9,000 centrifuges and the right to enrich uranium and to retain its underground facilities is something we cannot agree to," Liberman said.

He believes that the North Korean experiment failed.

"It was an attempt to achieve at least any sort of agreement at any cost. That approach proved wrong. Either we say: there must be a real agreement similar to the Syrian solution, or no agreement at all so as to avoid mistakes of the past," Liberman said.

Once again he emphasized the idea that the solution achieved at the Lavrov-Kerry talks was optimal.
