Iran blasts desecration of Prophet by French magazine
TEHRAN, Jan. 14 (MNA) Irans Supreme National Security Council spokesman has blasted publication of a cartoon of the Prophet of Islam by a French magazine as desecration and a provocative act.
Mehr News has been informed by Supreme National Security Council secretariat that Keivan Khosravi, the Councils Culture and Communication Deputy had received the head of Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) Mrs. Laura Suleiman.

Khosravi pointed to security threats with origins in extremism, violence, and terrorism in the regional and international levels, and emphasized on the necessity of taking prudent and wise measures by the media; cooperation of independent media and news outlets through establishing think tanks plays a crucial role in creating effective trends in the media against the propaganda spewed force by the extremism and violence front, Khosravi said.

The most disrespectful act of republishing a cartoon lampooning the Prophet of Islam and also cartoons desecrating Christianity and other heavenly religions is a provocative act promoting violence and terrorism; the Islamic Republic of Iran has set as its guiding principle and code of conduct respect for morals and ethics, he said, adding that it would contribute to national security.

Khosravi assessed Iran and Lebanon media cooperation as necessary for strengthening bilateral ties; impartial reporting and compliance with professional ethics are the most important bases for any media cooperation and should be considered, he asserted.

Laura Suleiman for her part emphasized upon extended cooperation in the media, and believed that impartial reporting and adherence to moral codes were priorities of NNA; independent media should not allow terrorists to abuse them in advancing their vicious propaganda, she added.
