Iran hosting one million registered Afghan refugees, official
Arak, Markazi prov, Dec 25, IRNA A senior Iranian official said about one million registered Afghan refugees are presently living in Iran.
The Interior Ministry official for foreign nationals and expatriates Reza Mohseni made the remark in a press conference here in this central province on Thursday.
He noted that Iran has been rendering remarkable services to foreign refugees in the past three decades.

He said the second and third generations of Afghan refugees living in Iran are not familiar with their own country and many of them have not even visited Afghanistan.

The official said Iran has been conducting seminars, contests and other programs during the past three years to help young Afghans become familiar with the true aspects of their original country.

This will help motivate young Afghans to return to their country of origin, the official added.
