1100 malnourished children receive free food basket
TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) The head of Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation in Irans southeastern Sistan and Balouchistan Province has said that 1100 children under six have received free food baskets during the first half of the Iranian year.

In an interview to Mehr News, Mahmoud Mir-Imami pointed to the Elimination of Malnutrition Project carried out by Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation since the beginning of current Iranian year (begun on March 21, 2104) and said, malnourished children under 6 will be identified and receive free food and protein baskets with the help of health centers under the suerpvison of Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation.


Based on the Elimination of Malnutrition Project, 1100 children from urban and rural areas of Zahedan took advantage of free food baskets, Mir-Imami said.


Noting that the credit for performing the project in first half of the year was $816 millions, he said, nutrition education, consistent with culture and facilities of different areas as well as the programs of prevention and control in the form of distribution of food baskets can play a major role in improving the health status of the children and their educational development.
