Tehran, YJC. Deputy Foreign Minister in African and Arab Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran and Turkey sooner or later will succeed in settling the Syrian crisis through a common political means.


Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Turkish counterpart Umit Yalcin.

Both, Tehran and Ankara, play a strategic role in the current regional developments, he asserted, speaking on Tuesday.

The senior diplomat maintained that Iran and Turkey are not competing in the regional issues, adding that Iran has always hailed Turkey's relations with the regional countries, including Iraq and the Persian Gulf states.

Providing comments on the current situation in Iraq, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran was determined to contribute to the Iraqi campaign against terrorism.

Yalcin, for his part, pointed out that Turkey and Iran enjoy long-standing historical relations.

The Turkish deputy foreign minister added that Iran �and Turkey share common views on a better future for the people of the region, prevalence of peace and stability, preserving the integrity and security of Iraq and Syria, as well as the eradication of regional terrorism.
