Iran nuclear negotiating team should resist illegal demands: Senior Cleric

Tehran, Nov 21, IRNA - Tehran's Substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati urged Iran's negotiating team to resist powers' illegal demands.

The ayatollah made the remarks while addressing a congregation gathere here for Friday Prayers ceremonies.

He noted that both the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation supported the negotiating team.

Ayatollah Jannati urged the Iranian nuclear negotiators to resist illogical demands of world powers by trusting in the Almighty.

Jannati said members of the Iranian negotiating team should not be afraid of the notion of not reaching an agreement with world powers including US.

Iran and the six major world powers have already held 9 rounds of nuclear negotiations after inking an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24, 2013, and have only one more week to strike a final deal before the November 24 deadline.

The new round of talks between Iran and the world powers started in Vienna on Tuesday.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the senior cleric condemned Israeli pressures upon Palestinians and the new limitations on their access to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Jannati also criticized Egypt for not opening the Rafah border point between Egypt and Gaza.
