1.7 tons of hashish seized at Mir Java border with Pakistan

Zahedan, Nov 9, IRNA 1,700 metric tons of hashish was seized from drug traffickers in Mir Java border region of Irans Sistan and Balouchestan province Saturday.
Mir Java Border Guards with full information and aware about the intention of the traffickers to transfer that huge consignment of narcotics into Iran urgently planned an operation and monitored all the suspected movements in the entire region, said Sistan and Balouchestan Border Guards Commander Brigadier General Rohambakhsh Habibi.
He said that the border guards initially identified the probable path of the traffickers passage in the jungle strip along the border and put it under their full siege, and after viewing the traffickers got engaged in an armed struggle with them.

The provincial border guards commander said that the traffickers who had noticed the high combat capability of the Iranian border guards left their huge consignment of hashish and fled to Pakistan.

Brigadier General Habibi appreciated the effective cooperation of the Mir Java border residents with the border guards that this time, like many similar cases in recent past left futile the smugglers efforts aimed at transferring narcotics into Iran through the countrys long and porous border with Pakistan and Afghanistan.
