Norwegian FM: Oslo eager to join Tehran in campaign against violence, extremism
Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende said on Sunday that Oslo government appreciates Iran's outstanding role in campaign against terrorism, willing to hold consultations with Iran in this respect.
Brende made the remarks in his address to the roundtable meeting of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of Foreign Ministry and the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO), entitled "Role of Religions in De-Escalation of Violence, Extremism and Terrorism."
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif also presented a lecture to the roundtable meeting.

Zarif said violence and extremism do not belong to a region and if the two are seen in Daesh behavior, there is the possibility that a day will come that terrorism will spread to other parts of the world.

He welcomed holding such meetings to draw up a practical strategy to counter violence and extremism.

Brende said that he is visiting Iran after years when the Middle East, especially Iraq and Syria are suffering from a phenomenon like Daesh crisis.

He said that such meetings help the officials of the two countries reach a common understanding on campaign against violence and extremism.
