Dutch envoy stresses Iran's influential role in region

Dutch envoy stresses Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Netherlands' special envoy on Syria underscored Iran's important role in settling the regional problems, and called for finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
The Dutch official made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Amir Abdollahian elaborated on Tehrans viewpoints on the Syrian crisis, and informed the Dutch diplomat that Iran has proposed a political initiative for settling the Syrian crisis and explained it for him.

He described the US anti-ISIL coalition outside the UN framework as the continuation of that countrys mistakes.

The Iranian diplomat emphasized that due to the different and sometimes contradictory objectives that the members of that coalition pursue it is very unlikely that it will achieve any success in its campaign.

The Dutch diplomat, for his part, referred to Irans influential role in the region, specially in Syria, and stressed the necessity for seeking a political way to end the aggression and establish nationwide dialogue among all involved parts in that country.

In relevant remarks last month, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif emphasized Tehran's influential role in settling the regional problems and crises.

He stressed that Tehran plays an influential role in resolving major regional crises.
