OIC Women Conference opens in Baku

Tehran, Oct 20, IRNA The Fifth Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) Member States kicked off in Baku on Monday.
Iran's Vice-President for Women Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi is attending the two-day meeting.
Heading a delegation, she arrived in Baku on Sunday to attend the gathering.

Upon her arrival at the airport, she was welcomed by Iran's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakaeen and the Azerbaijani officials.

The OIC women conference is aimed at reviewing the progress and empowerment of women and their role in the Islamic states.

The Conference closes on Tuesday and is expected to adopt a declaration on empowerment of women in the OIC member states.

OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani will inaugurate the Fifth Ministerial Conference, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will address the conference.
