Navy commander arrives in China

Tehran, Oct 19, IRNA Commander of Iran's Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari arrived in China on Sunday heading a high-ranking delegation to discuss promotion of cooperation between the two countries armed forces.
Commander Sayyari is in China upon an official invitation of his Chinese counterpart Admiral Wu Shengli.
Speaking to reporters prior to his departure from Tehran, he said his visit is aimed at preparing the ground for all-out cooperation between Iranian and Chinese armed forces including conducting joint military exercises, setting up training courses and strengthening bilateral defense relations.

He said he will meet commander of China's People's Liberation Army Navy and visit various training centers of the Chinese Navy to make a precise assessment of their capabilities and training skills.

Sayyari said the two sides will also discuss technological and equipment demands of the Iranian Navy.

According to Commander Sayyari his visit is taking place as Tehran is departing from its defensive diplomacy following easing of Western anti-Iran sanctions.
