Iranian VP condemns Israeli savage attacks on Gaza people

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi in a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon blasted the Zionist regime's brutal attacks on the defenseless Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In her letter, Molaverdi urged the UN secretary general to help stop massacre of Palestinians, specially the children, by the Zionist regime.

"It is now over two weeks since the beginning of the new round of the Zionist regime's atrocities in Gaza Strip," she said.

The Iranian vice-president regretted silence of the international bodies, and said, "This silence has fuelled the flames of the Zionist regime's crimes in the region.

Molaverdi reiterated that the Zionist regime's ongoing assaults on Gazans are clear violation of Geneva Conventions, UN Charter and the international human rights standards.

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 17 consecutive days, killing at least 750 people and injuring more than 4,600 others.

According to the UN, 77% of the victims in Gaza are civilians and defenseless people.

Since July 8, Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against Gaza.

On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated Gaza Strip.
