Mirwaiz appeals Iran to help settle Kashmir dispute
Srinagar, June 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has appealed to Iran to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute.
The APHC Chairman was addressing a seminar in Srinagar held in connection with the death anniversary of founder of Islamic revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini. I appeal the Iranian government to use its good offices for the final settlement of Kashmir issue. Had Ayatollah Khomeini lived more we would have seen a strong support from Tehran for the Kashmir cause, he said.

The Mirwaiz said that besides playing an effective role in the economic affairs of India and Pakistan, Iran should more focus on the Kashmirs political problem, as Kashmir and Iran share age-old cultural and traditional relations. For this strong relation Kashmir is also described as Iran-e-Sagheer, he added.

The APHC Chairman showed concern over the sectarian divisions within the Islamic countries. He also called upon the government of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Iran and other Muslim nations to come together to face the challenges of Islamic globe only then the establishment of Islamic rule (Khilafat) was possible in the world.

In his speech, Iranian Ambassador to India, Dr Ghulam Raza Ansari, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that Iran always wanted strong relations between Pakistan and India. Kashmir is our Iran-e-Sagheer, so we want people of this place live with dignity. We always stressed for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. Iran in the past has taken various initiatives to bring India and Pakistan closer to each other, he added.

The Ambassador while terming the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline as a peace pipeline said that the project was not only for economic interests but was aimed for the promotion of peace in South Asia especially between Pakistan and India.
