Iran not to give up right for peaceful use of n-energy: Velayati

Tehran, May 14, IRNA Top Advisor to Supreme Leader for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said that Iran will not give up its right for peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Talking to IRNA in an exclusive interview, he noted that the Supreme Leader and the nation support the nuclear negotiating team.
Iran will continue its nuclear activities under NPT rules and regulations and will not shut down Fordo Enrichment Facility or Arak Heavy Water Reactor, Velayati added

He underlined that Iran will not dissolve its centrifuges in exchange for a small and symbolic number of operating centrifuges.

Fossil fuel energies are ending and all countries including Iran need to invest on alternative energies to answer their future demands, the senior diplomat asserted.

He noted that Tehran needs enriched uranium to provide the fuel required for its Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) as well as the nuclear desalination plants to provide water for the people living in southern provinces.

Iran is not seeking military weapons and Supreme leaders decree on prohibition of production and use of nuclear weapons guarantees the peaceful nature of Irans nuclear program, Velayati underscored.

He said that big powers are concerned about developing countries scientific progress which aims to break their monopoly over the production of nuclear fuel.

Several high-ranking delegations from around the world including the EU high ranking officials paid visits to Iran during the past six months and this shows the fact that US pressure policy against Tehran has already failed, the senior diplomat concluded.
