Iran's Rouhani replaces one of his VPs

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's website says he has replaced one of his vice presidents, citing health reasons.
The Thursday report by president.ir said Rouhani has accepted the resignation of Mohammad Ali Najafi, vice president of tourism and cultural heritage. It said he was given a post as Rouhani's adviser.

Last year Najafi was hospitalized for heart problems.

The report said Rouhani appointed Masoud Soltanifar to replace Najafi.

In August both Soltanifar and Najafi failed to get a vote of confidence from the conservative-dominated parliament for ministerial posts. Najafi was accused of being involved in unrest that followed the Islamic Republic's disputed 2009 elections.

Rouhani has several vice presidents. Others handle nuclear, environmental, war veteran and scientific affairs.
