IRGC navy employs asymmetric tactics for defense: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy commander said his forces adopted asymmetrical warfare tactics to boost their defensive capabilities in the sea.

The IRGC Navy is the symbol of symmetrical defense by utilizing the strategy of asymmetrical battle in the maritime sphere, Rear Admiral Ali Fadavisaid in a gathering of the IRGC veterans in the countrys southern province of Hormozgan on Saturday.

Based on that strategy, the commander stated, the IRGC Navy has made it clear that any possible plan for military action by the enemies will draw a "crushing response" from the Islamic Republic, much harsher and more damaging than the adversaries military plan.

He also reasserted the IRGC Navys preparedness to defend the countrys territorial waters, and stated that his forces have achieved advanced equipment in defense sectors, thanks to the efforts of indigenous experts.

In relevant remarks in December 2013, Rear Admiral Fadavi had announced that the effective strategy of deterring threats has thwarted all enemy plots, adding that the presence of his forces in the countrys territorial waters has scared the adversaries.

He had also lauded the IRGC naval forces for their mighty and courageous presence in the countrys maritime territories and beyond, and noted that adoption of deterrence strategy has thwarted all plots hatched by the enemies.

The top commander said even the enemies have acknowledged the capabilities of the IRGC Navy, something that has forced them to give up any adventurism in the regional waterways.
