Iran seeks ties with independent states: First VP

The Iranian first vice president says the expansion of ties with independent countries is among the unchanging policies of the Islamic Republic.

In a Saturday meeting with Venezuelan Ambassador to Tehran Amenhotep Zambrano, Eshaq Jahangiri urged the strengthening of bilateral ties between Iran and Venezuela.
The development of Iran-Venezuela cooperation will be influential in not only the two countries ties but also in many international relations, Jahangiri said.
He said that the Iranian administration of Prudence and Hope is keen on enhancing ties with Venezuela, adding that the two countries need to remove obstacles to the development of all-out ties.

Zambrano, for his part, called for the expansion of Tehran-Caracas ties in all sectors, saying the development of relations between the two countries would shore up the economy of both Venezuela and that of the Latin America region.

Major Latin American nations, including Venezuela, have enhanced their diplomatic and trade ties with Iran in recent years. The promotion of all-out cooperation with Latin American countries has been among the top priorities of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy over the past few years.
