Alan Eyre: US will oppose to adoption of new anti-Iran sanctions

Tehran, Dec 18, IRNA Persian speaking spokesman of the US Secretary of State Alan Eyre said Wednesday that Washington would oppose to adoption of fresh nuclear sanctions against Iran based on the Joint Action Plan agreed in Geneva on November 24.
Speaking exclusively to IRNA, Eyre who is currently in London, reiterated US commitments to the Joint Action Plan agreed in Geneva between Iran and the P5+1 nations (US, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany).

Blacklisting additional individuals and companies by US Treasury Department does not mean imposing new sanctions on Iran while it is in line with the implementation of the previous and present sanctions, said the spokesman.

Recalling President Barack Obamas comments on the issue, Eyre said US would prevent adopting new sanctions on Iran for its nuclear program as far as it is possible based on US political scheme.

However, Eyre stressed that US commitment to the Geneva Joint Action Plan would not lead to the halt of the current sanctions against Iran and also would not prevent imposing new sanctions on the country for issues other than nuclear program.
