India, Iran review bilateral relations
New Delhi, Nov 25, IRNA India and Iran here on Monday reviewed the full gamut of bilateral relations.
Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh held talks with the visiting Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Ebrahim Rahimpour. The talks were part of the high level Foreign Office consultations that take place between India and Iran, said a Press Release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.


The Foreign Secretary expressed satisfaction to the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister on the agreement between the E3+3 and Iran finalized in Geneva the previous day, and conveyed Indias expectation that the agreement would renew the prospect for resolving the Iranian nuclear question through dialogue and diplomacy, it said.

The full gamut of bilateral relations was reviewed during the meeting. Both sides were agreed that there is considerable untapped potential to develop economic cooperation between the two countries particularly in the area of energy and transit. In this context both sides agreed on the need to accelerate efforts to finalize joint cooperation activities for the development of the Iranian Port of Chahbahar as a trade and energy hub for the region, the release said.

The two sides also discussed regional developments, including the developments in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

The visiting Deputy Foreign Minister Rahimpour called on the Indian Vice President, External Affairs Minister and National Security Adviser.
