Reaching accord on Saturday not certain: Iran

An Iranian deputy foreign minister says it is not certain whether Saturday negotiations between Iran and the Sextet over Tehrans nuclear energy program will end in an accord.
"Intense and difficult negotiations are under way and the discussions are over words and the balance of the parties steps, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, said on Saturday.

The Iranian official also said that it is not clear whether we will reach an agreement tonight.

Iran and the six powers - the US, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany - began their latest round of talks on Wednesday. The present round of talks was scheduled to end on Friday, but was extended into Saturday.

The arrival of the word powers top diplomats in Geneva has raised hopes that a final deal, which many say could end the standoff over the Iranian nuclear energy program, is just around the corner.
"The foreign ministers of the six countries are going to have a meeting together... We will decide about the continuation of the negotiations after" this meeting, Araqchi added.
Saturdays talks aimed to narrow the remaining gaps and finalize a nuclear deal between the two sides, which fell through in the last round of talks a fortnight ago.

During the previous talks held in early November, the two sides came very close to a deal, which failed to materialize, due to the position adopted by France in support of the Israeli regime.
