TEHRAN (FNA)- White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest underlined that the talks between Iran and the major world powers in Geneva have enjoyed good progress thus far.

Earnest expressed satisfaction with the results of talks between Iran and the Sextet in Geneva, and said, "Were optimistic about this opportunity, but we need fully consider whether that opportunity actually exists."

The new round of negotiations between Iran and the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany began on November 20 in Geneva.

During the last round of talks in Geneva on November 7-9, a first-step agreement was within reach, but the position taken by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in favor of the Israeli regime and a lack of commitment by US Secretary of State John Kerry spoiled the negotiations.
