Meeting on effects of war and radicalism on women and children

Tehran, Nov 7, IRNA A meeting was held in Tehran on Wednesday to discuss effects of war and violence caused by radicalism on women and children.
Members of association for support of women and children refugees and Afghanistan judicial delegation participated in the meeting.


A member of Muslim Mothers for Peace , Fatemeh Ashrafi said in the meeting that unfortunately in the past 40 years the region witnessed changes by the phenomenon of religious radicalism which paved the way to ruin people rights and it emerged at first in Afghanistan by the name of Taliban.

She continued that we clearly witnessed the harmful effects of Taliban in Afghanistan on the life of Afghan women and children and its roots created al-Shabab in Africa.

Ashrafi stressed that people confrontation with the phenomenon had demolishing and harmful effects on people, especially children and women in the Arab states in the Middle East region.

She added that in recent months a group of Iranian women have founded an association called Muslim Mothers for Peace to find appropriate ways to consider women and children problems.

Unfortunately in these days violence and radicalism are increasing against women and children in Iraq, Syria and Yemen and we are trying to minimize these problems with cooperation of this association and activists from member countries.

Deputy head of Afghanistan independent human rights commission, for her part, said that the most important problem in Afghanistan is the issue of security.

Sorayya Sobeh-Rang said that nowadays, terrorism is the biggest enemy in the region and is endangering our women and girls with suicide operations.

She added that Afghan women with despair and dark future are facing sufferrings from recent wars, but their resistance has proved that the enemy cannot achieve their goals.
