Israel denies involvement in poisoning former PA chief
The Israeli regime has denied any connection to the death of Yasser Arafat, the late leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
"There is no Israeli connection to this in any way," Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman, Yigal Palmor, said on Wednesday.

The remarks came after Swiss forensic scientists investigating Arafats death said in a report that the tests on the Palestinian leaders corpse showed unexpected high activity of polonium-210, which "moderately" supported the poisoning theory.

Palmor, however, dismissed the report as inconclusive, adding that it is not a scientific proof determining the cause of death.

Arafat died in 2004 at the age of 75 at a Paris military hospital. French doctors said at the time that they were unable to determine the origin of his illness.

The scientists, from the Vaudois University Hospital Center (CHUV) in Lausanne, examined Arafats medical records, samples taken from his remains, which were exhumed in November 2012, and items he had taken into the hospital in Paris where he died.
"New toxicological and radio-toxicological investigations were performed, demonstrating unexpectedly high levels of polonium-210 and lead-210 activity in many of the analyzed specimens," the 108-page report said.
The report was handed to the representatives of Arafats widow, Suha Arafat, as well as representatives of the Palestinian Authority.

Suha Arafat said on Wednesday that the results disclosed "a real crime, a political assassination."

"This has confirmed all our doubts. It is scientifically proved that he didn't die a natural death and we have scientific proof that this man was killed," she added.

Some 60 samples were collected from the remains of Arafat in November 2012 for an investigation to determine whether he had been poisoned. The samples were divided between Swiss and Russian scientists and were also given to a French team carrying out a probe at the request of Suha Arafat.

According to Palestinian news agency, WAFA, the Russian team submitted its report on November 2.
