Romania film festival to host two Iranian short animations
Two Iranian short animations have been selected to contend for awards at the 21st ALTER-NATIVE International Short Film Festival in Romania.
Maryam KhalilzadehsWhite Pigeon by the Mirrorand Shiva Sadeq-AssadisThe Kittenare slated to be screened at the Competition section of the festival.

Both screen creations will compete with other participated films from Spain, France, Russia, Switzerland and several other countries.

Produced by Irans Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), the animations have participated in a number of Iranian and international events and took awards.

Khalilzadehs short animation took part in the Slection Jeune Publique section of the 19th Nancy-Lorraine International Film Festival and the 12th Silhouette International Film Festival in France.

The seven-minute animation is based on a story of the same title written by Ahmad Reza Ahmadi. The story narrates a little girl who looks for a white pigeon she saw one morning outside the window of her room.

Irans several other representatives are also slated to be presented in different categories of the Romanian festival.

Iran started the art of animation, as practiced in modern day, in the 1950s. Over the last few decades Iranian animation has found international reputation.

Established in 1993, the ALTER-NATIVE International Short Film Festival is one of the renowned film festivals at the region with specific goal of supporting and promoting regional cinematography and fresh filmmaking talent.

This years film festival is scheduled to be held from November 6 through 10, 2013.
