Iran describes embargo as 'clear violation' of int'l law

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian representative to the UN Gholam Hossein Dehghani stressed that sanctions are apparently violating international law.
"Iran deeply believes that imposition of embargo as a tool for economic and political pressure on developing countries is clear violation of international law and is in contradiction with goals and principles taken from the UN Charter," Dehghani said.

He also added the approach is in contradiction with the right of peace, development and safety of independent countries, free shipping and trade.

The Iranian diplomat also lambasted economic sanctions against Iran and said the consequences of these sanctions only target life of ordinary people.

Dehghan reiterated Iran's objection to employment of such out-dated and inefficient approaches which is in contradiction with freedom of all nations.
