Iran U-17 draws with Canada at 2013 World Cup
Iranian under-17 national soccer team has drawn with Canada in its second match at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Iran was the better team of the match that ended 1-1 despite many chances the young Iranians lost in the Group E encounter held at al-Rashid stadium in Dubai on Tuesday.

In the first half, the Iranians came out stronger and managed to gain an early opener seven minutes into the game. Amirhossein Karimi fired a perfect shot into the corner after Amir Mazloum collected a throw-in from the left and laid the ball back for him.

At the 48th minute, Canadas Jordan Hamilton scored an equalizer after his shot passed Irans goalkeeper Mahdi Amini.

Iranians lost chances one after another especially in the second half when they hit the woodwork twice, first in the 71st minute through Mohammad Bazaj and then through Majid Hosseini, who shot from distance just three minutes later.

In another Group E match of the day, Argentina edged past Austria 3-2 to bring about the first victory of the group since the tourney started.

The Iranians had drawn with Argentina 1-1 in their opening match of the tourney on October 19.

Iran will face Austria while Argentina will take on Canada on Friday.

Argentina, which has four points, is on top of the group and is followed by Canada and Iran each with two points and Austria with one at the bottom.

The 15th round of FIFA U-17 World Cup kicked off in UAE on October 17 and will wrap up on November 8.
